IT Spending Flexibility with IBM’s Cloud Pak for Content Automation

  • Published on Jul 28, 2021

The name of the game with IBM’s Cloud Pak for Automation is flexibility – flexibility in your deployment options and flexibility in your licensing choices.

“The benefit of this flexibility will do tremendous things for your overall IT spend,” said IBM Vice President Bill Lopig, in a recent webinar about the content capabilities of IBM’s latest suite of products. “This is all about adding value to your capabilities by only paying for what you need.”

IBM’s Cloud and container platforms with AI- and machine learning-infused capabilities have been making waves, as Gartner’s most recent Magic Quadrant recounted. This new platform has many benefits for clients concerned with their upgrading their current content solutions.

For business managers who are looking for better technology for their content capture and content data enablement, IBM’s Cloud Pak for Automation has three main benefits:

  • Cloud-native architecture
  • Embedded technology in AI and Machine Learning
  • Low-or no-code implementations

Cloud-Native Architecture

Because this modular architecture is optimized for cloud and container platforms and not cloud vendor restrictive, users are free to pick the service they like best and only pay for what’s needed – freeing up valuable IT spend.

“Cloud-native architecture allows for rapid, resilient deployments and better resource allocation,” Lopig said. “This is a more modern way to deploy and scale enterprise applications across your entire platform. Full-scale content operations that used to take months or weeks now happen in hours or days.”

AI and Machine Learning

Embedding AI and Machine Learning in the new cloud and container platform adds automation capabilities into workflows, allowing your human subject matters to work on higher priority tasks.

AI improves content workflows by automatically extracting, classifying, verifying, validating and correcting data. It can be used to build knowledge sets over time and help teach machines how to further improve workflows.

AI can be infused throughout services and incorporated into new and existing content alike. “AI is a feature that makes suggestions, looking for a pattern,” Lopig said. “This is beyond content capture. This is intelligent document processing in minutes. There is simply no better technology than AI to drive digital transformation.”

Artificial intelligence can also be used in tasks like adding structure to documents that aren’t standardized for quicker and more efficient processing. IBM’s Cloud Pak for Automation can help transform everyday tasks, too, like standardizing and coalescing invoice information for faster turn over times .

Low-Code Implementations

Another improvement to the new IBM Cloud Pak for Automation platform is ease of use in the low- or no-code implementations. “These make it as easy as possible to use,” Lopig said. “This platform is designed with a business user in mind – not your development team.”

Another important tool in this platform file sharing. “We were seeing that file sharing was being sold as a business, when it really should be a feature in the system you’re currently running.”

IBM’s Cloud Pak for Automation includes document collaboration capabilities to share work outside of the firewall. “Some of our clients are working on documents that require the utmost power of security – like lending, underwriting, government contracts, etc.,” Lopig said. “IBM gives them the full security of a firewall, but without having to add outside services to share externally. This makes them extremely easy to use without undermining security needs.”

These content-centric toolkits and design systems are available in the following:

  • Content Navigator
  • Content Platform Engine
  • Content Search Services
  • External Share
  • GraphQL
  • CMIS
  • Task Manager
